The changing word in libraries

I recently gave evidence to the Select Committee on Library Closures and it has finally produced its report. Many commentators say it’s too little too late. Certainly the budget setting challenge facing local councils is immense. But a recent LGA seminar showed how many are finding new ways of sustaining their public library service. It is clear from the work I have been doing with Locality that partnerships with local communities can play a big part, but the solutions need to be enterprising ones, not trying to sustain the status quo for less.

The report can be found here: Report: Library closures
